Picnics, Ouja Boards, and new Posters...

43rd Parallel Press will be at Picnic Music and Art Festival this Saturday (sept 13, 2008) I'm going to be sharing a booth with my dear friend Martha from Strong Arm Bindery. There is going to be live music and over 70 local venders. 11am to 6pm rain or shine in Lincoln park. Congress Street and Franklin here in beautiful downtown Portland, Maine.

Just finished a small run of Ouija style boards complete with plachettes . They came out pretty sharp if I do say so myself. Also just did posters for My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult's 20 year anniversary tour, and Wargasm's 20 year reunion show/ live recording.( Man, I'm getting old) and some Weedeater/ Black Cobra prints. I put some of this stuff up for a modest fee on my Etsy site, and , all this and more will be available at Picnic. Dig the pictures, and come say "hi" this Saturday, friends, there will be tons of cool stuff to see and hear.

BORIS

Just finished a run of "black light" posters for an upcoming Boris show at the Middle East in Cambridge, Mass. I have put up a few pictures of the process so you can kind of see the way the colors go down. The final color (black) is done with a tinted adhesive, then the flocking is applied, in this case with a make shift sifter. Check out the picture of my friend Hiedi up to her elbows in the stuff. Not the most technical method, but the results are right on. I just added these to my Etsy sight, so check it out .
I also added a shot of some posters my friend Leif did the other day for an upcoming Moneycastasia show. He hand painted directly on mylar to make his photo positives to burn the screens. Very cool stuff!

Business as usual

A couple shots of a run of posters I just did for a show at Portland, Maine's favorite club, Geno's. Minsk didn't show up, but it was a pretty fun show none the less.
I've been working on a bunch of different projects, so stay tuned.

Friends Of The 43rd...

Over the past couple of weeks I've had the pleasure of working in the shop with two local artists/printers on a few of their screen printing projects.

My friend, Amos LeBlanc, came by to do a short run of gig posters for an upcoming Satellite Lot show.
I, unfortunatly forgot to get a picture of the finished piece, but they came out really good.
He did 4 layers of repeating geometric shapes in different colors, each slightly off set from the last, then over printed the text. The overprinted shapes made a really cool effect, and a damn fine posters. Nice work, my friend.
The week before I opened the shop up to Megan(sorry, I forgot her last name) who designed then printed a run of beautifully detailed 4 color wedding invites for some friends of hers, while I burnt screens, played records and drank beer.
One of my favorite things about the shop is getting to hang out with other artists, talk shop, and watch them do what they do. Dig the pictures, friends.
